Welcome to 5H
5th grade teacher of math and writing
The 5th grade had the opportunity to attend the opera at the Hyde Cultural Center in Woodstock this week. They were excellent audience members, and were able to experience a new type of event. The costumes and scenery were great, and it gave the students an opportunity to be exposed to a different kind of music.
The students all took their topic 8 algebra test this week. When the students first heard that they would be learning algebra there was some trepedation. However, by the end the class average was a standard grade of a 3. Students should be proud of all that they have accomplished in math this year! I am having students in a way complete an independent study for the new data unit, topic 14. They are all moving at different paces through the lessons, so many of them are utilizing the chromebooks and logging into pearsonrealize so that they can move along at their own pace. Less than 30 days to til the end of the year, and still so much to accomplish. Students should have been sent home with the yellow poetry tea form today with the item you are responsible circled. Please contact your homeroom teacher with any further questions.
