Reading Olympics is wrapping up on Friday, March 31st. If your child's homeroom meets their class reading goal, then they will be able to participate in a celebration on Friday, April 7th. Even if your child's class meets their goal, if your child has not met the minimum 5th grade requirement for the month of 400 minutes, then they will not be able to participate in the celebration because they did not contribute to the accomplishment.
This month has been an exciting one filled with many events. Students have been able to participate in most minutes read, best illustrated scene, best illustrated cover, and wacky recipe creation. The 5th grade teachers are really excited about the energy and the excitement that we have been observing from some of our students. This is a great event each year that helps students reach for the stars, and get hooked into reading!
I have been teaching for twelve years, and eleven years in the town of Willington, CT.
