Below is the school-wide rubric used by teachers to grade students on their academic responsibility grade called "citizenship". Please contact any 5th grade teacher with questions.
Wow, this weather this year is all over the place. With the sudden drop in temperatures we need to start preparing for outdoor recess during the colder months. We will continue to go outside up until the windchill reaches below 20 degrees. With that being said, please make sure that you are sending your students with jackets, hats, gloves, and when the snow appears boots and snow pants. We will be sending a note about recess home this week as well.
On another note, if you have not sent home your green conference form request, please do that as soon as possible. Thanks! This past week was a chaotic week to say the least. Between two "wind days", Halloween, and a Fall Festival our schedule was just a little bit out of whack.
With that being said, Quarter 1 closes this Tuesday. Please make sure that students are checking with their teachers and completing any missing work. Also, please make sure that students are checking in with their teachers if they have any concerns with their grades moving forward. Furthermore, report cards will be visible for families to view in the parent portal as of Tuesday, Nov. 14th. We will also be having our first Success Assembly on Wednesday, Nov. 15th. Last week students were sent home with a GREEN conference form. Please look at form to see if we requested a conference, and return the form with possible times if requested. Thanks! There will also be a Veteran's Day assembly this Thursday to honor local veterans. If the school has not reached out to you, and you're a veteran that would like to attend, please contact the main office. This is the final week of quarter 1. Please make sure that your student is checking in with their teachers and are up to date on all of their assignments. Grades close on Friday, November 3rd.
The Powerschool Portal will be closed between Monday, Nov. 6th and Wednesday, Nov. 15 for teachers to input grades and comments. If you have any questions about report cards, please contact one of your student's teachers. Also, conference letters will be sent out this week. The 5th grade team will not be meeting with all parents. If you have any questions, or would like to request a conference to discuss a specific need, please contact your student's homeroom teacher. For many years now the 5th grade celebrates the day of Halloween by participating in our own Fall Festival. The Fall Festival is a celebration of all things fall, and is connected to reading, writing, and math.
The students will be able to participate in a variety of activities, including a special snack. Coming home this week will be a form to sign up. This form invites you to sign up for a special snack. When choosing what you want to bring in, please keep in mind that we have many students with food allergies. We will collect forms, and send back the for highlighted with what we would like you to bring in the following week. Please make sure to send in the ingredient list on the day off Also on the form it invites to to come in and participate even in the morning or afternoon activities. If you are interested, please indicate that on the form. We look forward to a fun day! I can't believe we are already well into a month of school. I have been really impressed by students' willingness to try new things, challenge themselves in new ways, and be able to go with the flow with all of our new schedule changes. This Friday is our first minimum day. There will be modified schedule that I will share with students earlier in the week. There is a special "recess games" time scheduled into the day, so please send students with sneakers. I have inserted our presentation from curriculum night on Wednesday in case you missed it. Please contact any of the 5th grade teachers if you have questions. |
